Here at Hawthorn Primary School we believe that P.E and Sport play an important role in making our vision "Creating Lifelong Learner's" a reality for our pupils. We have welcomed the governments initiative to provide added funding in order to improve provision of Physical Education and Sport in primary school. We are committed to use this resource to develop high quality P.E lessons.

After winning a National Lottery grant, both the KS1 and KS2 trim trails have had a new surface placed underneath them and new tyres for the children to play on. We hope this will make play times even more exciting.

Competitive Sport at Hawthorn

This year the children at Hawthorn have taken part in an increased number and variety of sporting competitions. We have participated very successfully in football, hockey, multi-skills, bocha and curling competitions. We are very proud of all the children who have represented our school as they have been immaculately behaved and always given their best. Also excelling were the Year 5 and 6 football team who won the Hall Cross football tournament for the second year in a row!

The benefits of taking part in these competitions include: raising the profile of sport in school, encouraging children to be more active, increased enjoyment of sport, increased confidence, and giving children a wider range of opportunities and experiences.
