Welcome to Year 1 - Oak Class

A warm welcome to Oak class for the upcoming academic year.

During the course of year 1, children will be exploring several topics, such as, Our Local area, Toys in Time, Transport and Travel, The United Kingdom and Our Seaside- Now and Then.

Learning will be backed by interactive and inclusive teaching to enrich your children.

 

Year 1 has a deep focus on phonics in preparation for the end of year phonics screening check. We encourage you to read at home with your children!

 

Oak class is a warm environment full of respect, kindness and values where children will have the opportunity to question, challenge and work with others to thrive.

Home Learning 

Spellings will be sent home every Friday.

 

All children will receive home learning journals with work to complete. The journals should be returned every Monday to allow us to enjoy and celebrate the work completed.

PE Days & Things to Remember

Our PE days are xxxxxx and xxxxxxx. PE kit should be brought to school on the Monday and left there until Friday. Children must get changed for PE at school and any kit should be clearly labelled.

 

Reading books should be brought to school everyday and we encourage parents to read with their child every evening.

 

Uniform (jumpers and cardigans) should be labelled clearly to avoid being lost.
