Hawthorn Primary School is now closed for the Christmas break .... school reopens for the Spring Term on Tuesday 3rd January 2023 at our new opening time of 8:30am
No Events to show
The Department for Education announced in March 2022 that the expectation that mainstream schools should provide a school week of at least 32½ hours by September 2023.
Currently Hawthorn Primary opens from 8:45am until 3:00pm which is 6¼ hours which works out at 31¼ hours per week.
So, we are currently 1¼ hours short.
To rectify this, we have there are two options:
Have an earlier start time - 8:30am and finish as now at 3:00pm or
Start at 8:45am as now and finish 15 minutes later at 3:15pm
The Department for Education states that Headteachers do not have to consult about these changes – but I welcome your views.
Parents survey results have indicated that Option 1 is the preferred one and to start in January.
School with therefore open at 8:30am from 3rd January 2023.
You will be receiving a letter asking you to request tickets for this year's Christmas concerts.
There is not charge for the tickets.
Tickets are limited to 2 per family
I would like to invite you to attend our Parents’ Consultation Afternoon on Wednesday 23rd November. This is an important afternoon and provides you with an opportunity to discuss your child’s progress and well-being and will give you the chance to ask any questions or raise any concerns
Our virtual parents’ consultation was a success last time so we have decided to use the same system this time.
Our online appointment booking system is called SchoolCloud. This allows you to choose your own appointment times with teachers and you will receive an email confirming your appointments.
Appointments are 7 minutes long (after 7 minutes the system will automatically end the call – this is to ensure that the teacher’s next appointment starts on time).
Appointments can be made until Tuesday 22nd November. Should you wish to make any changes after this date please contact the school office.
Please visit https://hawthorndoncaster.schoolcloud.co.uk to book your appointments.
Hawthorn Primary School is proud to support this year’s
BBC Children in Need Appeal.
On Friday 18th November we will be having a non-uniform day – this will cost £1.00 and we ask that the children wear something spotty! Spotty items of clothing or even painted spotty faces.
We are launching our Twitter feed shortly.
