Welcome to Year 2 - Holly Class

A very warm welcome to Holly class. Our topics in Year 2 include Kings and Queens, The Great Fire of London, Planet Earth and Kenya. Fun activities are planned to enrich every topic including a visit  to Conisborough Castle, as well as interactive workshops in school.

We love to enhance our learning through quality texts and our class author is Ben Miller.

All children in Holly Class prepare for Key Stage One assessments from the start of the year and by the end of the summer term are ready to transition into Key Stage Two.

Our classroom is an interactive, exciting place to learn, where we question, challenge, co-operate and most importantly respect and value each other.

Home Learning

Spellings will be sent home every Monday. Please help your child to learn them ready for a test every Friday.

Children are expected to read at home at least four times a week.

Every child will be given a password and username for Times Table Rockstars

(www.ttrockstars.com) Individual challenges are set and it is a fun way for children to learn their times tables.

All children will bring a Homework Journal home and are expected to choose one activity from the Homework Challenge sheet every week.

Journals should be returned to school every Thursday ,

so we can celebrate the children’s home learning in class.
